Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
About the cheapest alkaline batteries I can buy are from Walgreens. They are as cheap as $0.20/ea for AA and AAA cells. Often I'll buy 20 or 30 at a time.
They are made in Indonesia. Anyone have ever test any of these? My general feeling has been that under low drain, they are pretty decent; but under relatively high drain they aren't the best. Not bad by any means, but they don't seem to last as long as the better brands. But I've never run a side by side with Duracel or Energizers, which generaly cost twice as much, even on sale. Unfortunately, my local Costco only stocks Duracells, and they are not a bargain there. I've used Rayovac Maximum Alkalines, from time to time, and they seem pretty much the same as Duracells or Energizers; they just aren't found in many stores, and aren't put on sale as often (of course they generally cost about 15% less than Duracells or Energizers) But I tend to stock up on whatever is cheapest, and the Walgreens batteries are the lowest cost per battery for the AA and AAA's Anybody have any numbers for these off brand batteries?

Re: Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
OH NO! Not Botach again! Serously, Botach has a horrible reputation for the worst service, according to numerous CPF members. I placed 3 or 4 good sized order with them with no problems, except expensive shipping, but after reading numrous bad reports on them, I am not about to place another order with them, no matter how attractive the price seems. They were accepting orders for UltraStingers when they had at least a month's backorder, without telling people. This sort of attitude is not what I expect. I'll pay a little more, and get excellent service from brightguy.com or AGR. Botach is evil. Is there any truth to the rumor I just started that the owner(s) may have some Middle East connections? Just kidding, but from what I've heard, that might explain their customer disservice policies. Just my opinion, of course.

I guess I should apoligize for never having been over-charged for shipping (that's a new one!) , or merchandise (far from it!) I'm sorry I got my Ultrastinger from Botach 3 days after I ordered it...I'm sorry they answered the phone when I called and were polite and efficient.
I can't understand how that Botach company stays in business with me being their only satisfied customer???
---(edit) and furthermore; I have aproblem with some of these complaints I hear about Botach. Either I outright doubt their veracity ..If someone, a competitor perhaps, wanted to bash Botach, why not post some frivolous nonsense in cpf, the good brother and sister flashaholics will eat it up, you'll have your desired effect, and it's fun, right? ....or there is something fishy about the complaint and/or the way the complainer handled it. Some of the reports sounds so angry i wouldn't be surprised if Botach just got P O'd at their attitude on the phone...who knows? I'm still not sure what exactly went wrong with Brock's deal...but then, everyone makes a mistake now and then...so I'm not about to end a good relationship based on conjecture... ... ... ...

Re: Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
Maybe Botach has gotten better, but I know they have money for two lights they never sent me, no tracking, nothing, and they refuse to acknowledge they never shipped the lights. They can't prove they sent them and one of them wasn't even released by the manufacture when Botach said it was shipped. What's a guy to do... They burned me on three orders, that was enough for me. My third problem was on my 12th order, so for their sake 9 went fine. And as Ted mentioned people can miss things and things get messed up, but when they rudely tell me I am wrong and tell me that I have a light that isn't made yet... I just can't buy from them or recommend them ever again after that, to each there own... Good luck

Re: Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
well I've always thought if you had any customer disagreements- legit or otherwise- you had better try and work them out. So in a sense it does not really matter whether they were right or wrong. I suspect strongly from what I have read in CPF they were performing rip offs of their customers mostly out of sloppiness in recordkeeping- but either way if they sent a customer away unhappy that's proof enough they should be blacklisted. There have been a lot of negative threads on CPF about these people and none that I know of about any of the other regular dealers we buy from. Why if they are so innocent don't they get on CPF and explain themselves? They know about CPF or if by chance they don't they ought to get out of the flashlight business. For heaven's sake they have pee'd off a moderator here no less. They should be sending him freebee or trial flashlights not telling him to get lost. There are good businesses and then there are bad ones, and always will be. That was .02 worth I hope...

I see your points. Brock, do you have the credit card statement, or canceled check?
If you email me the particulars, the price, the flashlight, the date, I will ask them why my pal is having a problem, and what we can do about it during my next order..

Re: Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
Brock? I placed an order with Botach yesterday, and they called this morning to tell me they were out of a certain color of E.Energy Microlite, and if they could substitute a couple blues for the 'whites' (clear) (this is the translucent body color we're talkin') I used that oppurtunity to broach the subject of your not getting your goods for your money -- I had to tell them I didn't know the details but described the general prob, and asked if he had heard of cpf? he then drew a breath through his teeth (sounded like), and referred me to someone in customer service who would be more up to date on the computer stuff, and who was busy at the moment, but
could I call back in ten minutes and ask for him? So, are you interested in pursuing this? I'll email you to make sure you get this -- just putting my mouth where my money is, so to speak - and reporting the events as they occur..

Re: Walgreen\'s brand batteries?
Again, I am not saying anyone else shouldn't buy from them. To each his/her own. I did contact Botach, several times and was rudely dealt with on more then one occasion, literally being yelled at by someone, who's name I got, but when I called back they had no one working there by that name (amazing how that works). So for me, no matter what they do for me now, it is to late, I can't bring myself to deal with them in any fashion. I really feel like some one slaps me in the face 3 times and now people are saying, ask them again, maybe they won't be rude again, I have taken enough abuse from them and want to let it go. Maybe it was a one-time thing, but it should have never been dealt with in that way from their end. Enough about them... From me anyway…
