Hello, and welcome to the August Community Showcase! From artwork inspired by our latest quest to epic achievements, this months showcase is absolutely packed with summer fun. Lets get into it!
Before we get into it, however, here's your reminder that next week on Wednesday, August 28th Araxxor will be released! And to hear about our plans for the rest of the year and early 2025 you should join us for 2024's Summer Summit on Saturday, September 7th at 8pm BST on the official OldSchoolRS Twitch channel.
Finally, if you'd like to see your own achievements highlighted in the next Community Showcase, you can submit them in the form linked below:
To kick things off, lets check out the achievements you all celebrated last month!
oO00OooO00Oo has saved the best (so far...) for last, by achieving their Quest Point Cape just before the launch of While Guthix Sleeps! We hope you had a great time getting those final few points.
Dummstic beat the odds by obtaining the much-coveted Stale Baguette as their first ever collection log slot. Now thats good luck!
Ol Faedir is reportedly terrified of the Wilderness, but that didnt stop them racking up an incredible 1,000 Scorpia kills in the hopes of finishing their Diary Tasks. But thats not all their bravery was rewarded with a cuddly Scorpia pet! Take good care of her!
Gwem has proved their chivalry by taking an Ironman account from level 3 to Max Cape without any alts, dancers, shop stockers, tanks, or any other multi-account shenanigans! See how its done on YouTube.
Lastly, Naketani has chosen to celebrate getting 99 Cooking with a tattoo of the first item any player cooks. Oh, this brings back memories!

Ahh, its good to be back! Ive been wandering all over the place if I had feet, I bet theyd be worn out! Silver linings, eh?
Lets take a look at the letters weve received while Ive been away... Oh, theres one for me!
From Little Witch
I've learned from other denizens of Gielinor that, for decades, you had stopped collecting mail. Is this true? If so, is it because you had been participating in a labor strike? Or are the men and women I had spoken to under a mass-delusion event? Either way, I'm very glad to see you making the rounds again. Much respect, Little Witch P.S. What is the roughest region to deliver mail to? I'd imagine it's Canifis, considering your calcium-robust form, and the fact they seem to chase after anything with a loose bag out there.
Hello there!
Please, call me Postie! Mr Pete is all my brothers names.
Ah, youre talking about the great interdimensional postal crisis of 164. You see, delivering mail around Gielinor is easy enough, but carrying letters back and forth from you lot to all your friends over here is a lot more complicated! We used to have a dedicated Postal Wizard to handle all the fiddly portal stuff, but now, as youve correctly surmised, its a bit more ad hoc.
Still, we manage well enough!
And dont get me started on Canifis! Im still trying to find out where the rest of my bones got to...
From Betafrost
Dear Cuthbert, Lord of Dread,
I recently engaged you in a duel to the death to determine the fate of humankind (and frogkind), and I do not expect you to forgive me from beyond the grave for your defeat. Our battle was legendary, but it got me thinking: how did you come across your moniker? "Lord of Dread" is a very impressive title.
Your eternal foe,
Betafrost
CURSE YE, BETAFROST!
The source of my impressive, and very powerful title is known only to me (and a select few other oasis dwellers). Needless to say, I achieved it by being the deadliest, most ruthless, most dreaded frog in all of Varlamore. No mean feat, I tell you so back off, lest I be forced to raise my slimy hands against you once more! Next time, I assure you, The Lord of Dread shall prevail!
Best,
Cuthbert, LORD OF DREAD
From Altihnkaii
Hello Wise Old Man, I come to write you to obtain answers. I would like to help my good friend Norman in Falador out and defeat his demon, yet I have no idea who or what is haunting him. With all your experience, could you guide me to whom this creature is?
Kind regards,
Altihnkaii
Dear Altihnkaii
A demon? In Falador? This is grave news indeed, and yet I do wonder whether your friend Norman might have been telling porkies, as we say in the adventuring business. Now Faladors a rather cosmopolitan city, and I think theres a good chance that the demon your friend saw might have been some mage or other up to a few hijinks. You should see the silliness that goes on over at the Wizards Tower! Students turning their heads into pumpkins, enchanted doors marching through the streets of Draynor... its all rather much.
Next time Norman sees this demon, he ought to empty a big bucket of water on its head! Thatll teach em.
Yours,
The Wise Old Man
From maimegidola
Dear Alathazdrar, the Demon Butler
Thaz (is it ok if I call you Thaz?) if you read this, I'm free on Thursday night and would like to hang out. Please respond to this and then hang out with me on Thursday night when I'm free.
Greetings, my lord.
Regrettably, I am not free on Thursday night. Please accept my humble apologies, but bingo waits for no man.
Yours,
Thaz
From Long Noot
Dear Prison Pete,
I have saved you from Evil Bob's evil looking Party Room so many times.
How do you keep getting lured back?
Hello, Long Noot!
Thats a fantastic question! To tell the truth, Im a bit stupid. Every time that horrible cat shows up, I just cant resist giving him a pat on the head. Hes just got such a sweet round face! And such lovely little ears! And hes SO fluffy! Oh, I could go on and on but I must go, I need to look for this key...

To the Varrock Stray Dog,
Whos a good dog?
Me! ME!
Ouch! Theres some very aggressive tail wagging going on over here, so Im afraid Ill have to say goodbye for now. See you next time! Oof!
This month, we asked:
Whats your favourite OSRS plugin?
There were loads of responses, and here are some of our favourites!
The best plugin on the Official OSRS client is the Tile Indicator plugin. Please consider tile markers and adding Bank Tab Tags or Bank Loadouts from the Game Jam project. That would be huge.
-PIRATE KING
Creator's Kit! for allowing me to take fashionscaping to new heights.
-Enkoro
Best plug-in is Quest Helper, but Door Kicker is second best.
-Prez93
My favorite plugin as of late has been "Boss Kicker". Watching my GIM mate kicking in The Whisperer's head to start the encounter has brought me much joy in these dry times.
-Read if Cute
Definitely Tile Markers or Tile Indicators. Tile Markers have so much utility that it's crazy. Something I especially like using them for is labeling them to write notes to myself at Gargoyles or Vorkath.
-ParuParu
Wajcocarpets has been busy crafting these stylish Skill Cape Carpets!

Rosey RS brings Dragon Slayer I to life with an animated telling of this epic journey. From gathering supplies and solving riddles to facing Elvarg herself, we were completely charmed by this artistic rendition. This is a must-watch to all, especially any lovers of lore.

One year ago, SaintShiba abandoned his maxed Inferno account to start over from scratch. His new goal is to complete absolutely everything in Old School RuneScape, including the Grandmaster combat achievements, the collection log, filling every container in the POH, and more. This video chronicles everything hes achieved so far and comes recommended by SaintShibas clanmates, who wanted us to know that as well as being a truly dedicated player, hes also a pillar of the Old School community and an all-round lovely person. Thats what we like to see!

Inquisitor: Lost Pages, from Lyfe, tells the story of a 30 Defence only Iron Man on an epic journey to get hold of the most powerful end-game items he can wield. With 22 episodes so far, theres plenty to sink your teeth into so get watching!

GravityBind has been poring over lorebooks, quests and more to get to the bottom of Old School RuneScapes biggest lore mysteries and theyve helpfully gathered them all into one fascinating playlist! A must watch for lore hounds everywhere.
Were finishing off with a pair of exciting one chunk challenges. In these challenges, the player must complete all the activities available within one small chunk of the world map.
Our first one-chunker is the Lunitar, a true Fremennik warrior whos decided to explore Rellekka. You might think you know this quiet corner of the map, but with 400 hours of playtime, youre sure to spot something youve never seen before! For example, did you know that something very interesting happens when you change the colour of your boots? Lunitar does!
Finally, lets follow the intrepid Stanky RS, whos decided to one-chunk one of the newest areas in the game: Ralos Rise! Honestly, this one is worth watching for the theme song alone but if you havent yet explored Varlamore, youll also spot loads of fun new things to do there!
If this has inspired you to try your own challenge, you can find plenty of resources on the OneChunkMan Discord server including this tool from Source Chunk, which lets you pick a chunk of your own to explore!
If you already frequent our official Old School Discord server, you'll know that our fantastic volunteer moderation team have already been hosting a range of fun events for our members, most of these delivered through the in-game friend chat: 07Discord.
Recently, we've expanded our focus on events and server activities, and as part of this we've added some new channels including:
- Events-news: the best place to go for any and all updates on activities you can take part in.
- Events-faq-info: everything you need to know about how events work, how to take part, and how to suggest and maybe even host your own!
- Events-general: for a good old natter about server activities.
- Event Suggestions: send your event ideas to our Mod team. If there's an event you want to see or take part in, let us hear about it - don't worry, you won't have to host it if you don't want to!
There's also a brand new opt-in role that will ping you whenever there's event news. You can apply it to yourself by reacting to the Baron Hype emote in the Events-faq-info channel.
Not all activities will be in-game - keep an eye out for some fun server activities, too. We may have heard rumblings of some spooky Halloween challenges on the horizon!
To celebrate this expansion, our Chat Mods hosted a mass Tempoross event, and even a couple of J-Mods showed up to cheer them on!
Click on each image to enlarge them.
Our Chat Mods also ran an Olympic-themed art contest over on the server, and we wanted to give a little shout out to the winners right here!
First place goes to @iglw! If you cant view the image above, click here!
Second place goes to @Zike! If you cant view the image above, click here!
Third place goes to @Sw! If you cant view the image above, click here!
Of course, we also want to thank everyone who entered and shared their creations! Rumour has it there'll be more creative contests to take part in in the future, too!
Join the official Discord server to get stuck in!
Finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has joined and become part of our Discord community. The official server surpassed 150k members in the last month - an incredible milestone! We're grateful to each and every one of you who use our server to make friends to play Old School with, for recruiting for and joining clans, to leave us feedback for updates and upcoming releases, and to all the lurkers who enjoy getting all the notifications and game news. Plus, our entire moderation team there, making our space safe and inclusive, and helping to keep it developing, all voluntarily.
Thank you all for being such a passionate community.
